Former Premier League football star Simon Vukcevic has been arrested after he was allegedly caught at an international border carrying a gun and 126 bullets.
The former Blackburn Rovers player, who also played for Serbia and Montenegro, could be held behind bars for 56 days, according to Portuguese press.
The attacking midfielder, 37, was reportedly detained on the Gostun border crossing while trying to leave Serbia and enter Montenegro, The Mirror reports.
Lisbon newspaper Correio da Manha writes that Serbia’s prosecution service has accused Vukdevic of unlawful possession of a weapon and ammunition.
Fellow Portuguese news outlet The Daily Record reports that prosecutors in the Serbian city of Uzice have led on the case.

Vukcevic made his first appearance in the Premier League on September 17, 2011, after signing a three-year contract with the Rovers. He also spent part of his career in Portugal.
He began his professional career at 17 when he joined Belize-based team Partizan.
Vukcevic went on to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Sporting CP in the early 2000s, before signing with clubs in England, Russia, Ukraine, Greece and Cyprus.
He was reportedly at the centre of a bidding war between Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers during the 2008 summer transfer window, but he remained with CP Sporting in Portugal.
After signing with the Rovers in 2011, Vukcevic’s first goal came during a 3-2 win against Leyton Orient in the September League Cup.
He played a total of 21 games for the Rovers, which was relegated at the end of his first season. After his contracted expired in January 2013, he signed with Ukrainian Premier League club FC Karpaty Lviv.
Vukcevic announced his retirement in March 2018.
