Kerem Shalom crossing reopens, vital aid to Gaza expected to save lives
Tens of thousands of lives could be saved in Gaza with the major lorry crossing at Kerem Shalom reopening yesterday to allow more aid in, the Defence Secretary said last night.
Following calls by Grant Shapps and Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron to improve aid, Israel has allowed the key border crossing to re-open. Crowds were yesterday seen desperately stripping the first lorries.
Mr Shapps said the move will save thousands, if not tens of thousands of lives, as food and medical supplies can now be moved swiftly to those who are the most in need.
With the fighting continuing, Layla Moran, Lib Dem MP for Oxford West, said her relatives are among hundreds of civilians trapped in a church in Gaza. Her family are “days away from dying” without water or food.
