{"id":197081,"date":"2023-12-18T20:13:11","date_gmt":"2023-12-18T20:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tokenstalk.info\/?p=197081"},"modified":"2023-12-18T20:13:11","modified_gmt":"2023-12-18T20:13:11","slug":"lurcher-makes-amazing-transformation-in-worst-case-of-neglect-ever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tokenstalk.info\/world-news\/lurcher-makes-amazing-transformation-in-worst-case-of-neglect-ever\/","title":{"rendered":"Lurcher makes amazing transformation in &apos;worst case of neglect&apos; ever"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1> Dramatic before and after images show lurcher&#8217;s amazing transformation after it was found covered with fleas and to the point of starvation in &#8216;worst case of neglect&#8217; ever seen by RSPCA inspector<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a0The RSPCA say animal neglect and abandonment is at three-year high this year<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u00a0WARNING: DISTRESSING CONTENT<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dramatic before and after images show the amazing transformation of a\u00a0rescue dog after it was found covered with fleas and to the point of starvation in the\u00a0&#8216;the worst case of neglect&#8217; ever seen by an RSPCA inspector.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maisie the Lurcher was discovered in the heartbreaking condition\u00a0by RSPCA inspector Amy McIntosh, when she arrived at a property in Lancashire in November last year after the charity received a call that four dogs looked underweight.<\/p>\n<p>Amy said the destitute dog\u00a0was the thinnest animal she&#8217;d\u00a0come across in her ten years working for the RSPCA, and thought the animal was dead&#8217; because she was &#8216;so cold and so, so thin.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Shocking photos taken when Maisie was first found show her curled in a ball and unable to move because of how rake thin she was.<\/p>\n<p>The harrowing images show the appalling condition Maisie was found in, with patches of fur missing on her emaciated body, with bones jutting out and her ribs clearly on show.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/18\/19\/79099165-12878351-image-a-5_1702928767663.jpg\" height=\"477\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Heartbreaking photos show Maisie looking very thin with her ribs clearly on show and patched up with bandages along her tail and around one of her bony legs\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But in a stunning turnaround, recent photos show that Maisie has gained weight and is on the road to recovery\u00a0after being fostered\u00a0by dog trainer Sarah Livesey.<\/p>\n<p>Maisie is now able to cuddle her Sarah,\u00a0who has helped rehabilitate the animal and transform her back into the &#8216;vibrant and loving&#8217; dog she used to be.<\/p>\n<p>Amy has also been re-united with Maisie and said she &#8216;can&#8217;t believe&#8217; how much she&#8217;s changed.<\/p>\n<p>She said: &#8216;It&#8217;s been heartwarming visiting her. She seems happy and healthy.. Full of life.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Now Maisie is getting the care and the love she deserves, she&#8217;s finally thriving.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Seeing a dog like Maisie go through a complete transformation is just incredible.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;She&#8217;s such a fighter.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I can&#8217;t believe she&#8217;s gone from near death to where she is now, so full of beans.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/18\/19\/79099167-12878351-image-a-6_1702928780176.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>But in a stunning turnaround, recent photos show that Maisie has gained weight and is on the road to recovery after being fostered by dog trainer Sarah Livesey<\/p>\n<p>Amy spoke of when she first discovered Maisie in her shocking condition, and said: &#8216;At first, I thought she was dead.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;She was completely stiff when the owner lifted her, as if she couldn&#8217;t uncurl. She was so cold and so, so thin.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I&#8217;ve seen severe cruelty before. But in terms of neglect it was the worst case I&#8217;d ever seen.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;With the owner&#8217;s consent, I lifted her and put her in the van. She remained stiff and curled up, like she couldn&#8217;t move.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Maisie was taken to a local vets, who discovered Maisie had reached the point of starvation and was covered in fleas.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/18\/19\/79099169-12878351-image-a-7_1702928809329.jpg\" height=\"477\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Maisie was taken to a local vets, who discovered Maisie had reached the point of starvation and was covered in fleas<\/p>\n<p>Her muscles were also wasting away and her body temperature was so low it wasn&#8217;t registering on a thermometer.<\/p>\n<p>The vet even discussed putting Maisie to sleep, but decided to wrap her up in bubble wrap and give her fluids to see if she would pull through.<\/p>\n<p>Amy said: &#8216;She hadn&#8217;t been kept in the cold.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;She was just so thin that she couldn&#8217;t hold her own body temperature.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We were just really keen to give her a chance, but we were anxious about the outcome.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/18\/19\/79099175-12878351-Shocking_photos_taken_when_Maisie_was_first_found_show_her_curle-m-10_1702928843663.jpg\" height=\"818\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Shocking photos taken when Maisie was first found show her curled in a ball and unable to move because of how rake thin she was<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;She was already so far gone.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The nurse used heat pads and wrapped her up in bubble wrap, to help her retain heat.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;She began shaking uncontrollably. It was horrible.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>When Sarah first brought Maisie home to the Lake District, she was &#8216;exhausted all the time&#8217; and had to have help going to the toilet because her legs were so weak.<\/p>\n<p>But now, she is the &#8216;most friendly and loving dog&#8217;
