F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the body governing international soccer competitions, will launch its own nonfungible token (NFT) collection ahead of the 2023 Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia\u00a0in collaboration with blockchain firm Modex.<\/p>\n
According to the Dec. 11\u00a0announcement, an inaugural collection of 100 NFTs will premiere on Dec. 15 and feature the chance to secure tickets to the FIFA World Cup 2026 final. In addition, a total of 900 other digital collectibles will be issued on the Polygon network and OpenSea this month, comprising memorable moments from the ongoing tournament and digital versions of memorabilia.<\/p>\n
\u201cScheduled to kick off in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on December 12, the FIFA Club World Cup brings together seven of the world\u2019s greatest football teams. The champions of FIFA\u2019s six confederations are all participating,\u201d FIFA wrote. The NFTs will be available on FIFA\u2019s namesake platform, FIFA+ Collect. The NFT platform was launched in September 2022 and is powered by Algorand.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since its inception, the FIFA+ Collect platform has facilitated 11 NFT drops, with 909,255 digital collectibles minted and 16,448 holders. The platform has seen a total of $2.4 million in trading volume across primary and secondary NFT markets. However, \u201dMint Volume can be misleading as FIFA+ Collect Info cannot distinguish the packs obtained for free in challenges from the packs purchased with USDC,\u201d FIFA+ Collect Info claims.\u00a0<\/p>\n
