People aren&#8217;t going to want to come and sit under a pylon and have a picnic.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;They come to Mid Wales because it&#8217;s peaceful, because it&#8217;s quiet, because there&#8217;s nothing here and because of the unspoilt landscape.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We&#8217;ve worked incredibly hard to bring people to this area, to introduce them to what we have here in Mid Wales. They come now in their numbers and they&#8217;ll be devastated if this happens to their favourite place.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Her daughter-in-law, mother-of-two Natalie was also worried about the noise the turbines would bring. The 43-year-old added: &#8216;All we&#8217;ve got to trade on is the great outdoors &#8211; that&#8217;s why people come here.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;But will they still come if the campsite is surrounded by giant wind turbines and electricity pylons?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The family&#8217;s Fforest Fields site is sheltered by a 350ft wooded hill, now destined to have 700ft wind turbines sitting along the top &#8211; almost as high as the Pen-Y-Fan mountain.<\/p>\n<p>Natalie&#8217;s husband Will, 44, added: &#8216;Families are being torn apart by this and it has split communities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/04\/12\/75037057-12478501-image-a-22_1693826598383.jpg\" height=\"951\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Residents are up in arms over the new pylon plans which they say will blight the Welsh countryside (pictured is a protest sign outside the town of\u00a0Builth Wales)<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Some people have signed up to have a turbine on their land, others to have pylons. Their neighbours are furious about it, there is a lot of ill-feeling.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I&#8217;m not interested in compensation &#8211; how do you compensate for ruining one of the most beautiful parts of the UK?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Another villager, who asked not to be named, said: &#8216;This isn&#8217;t just about ruining the view nearby &#8211; these are monstrous structures.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Surely it makes more sense to build these things out to sea and not in the middle of the countryside churning up land and destroying wildlife.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>More than 500 campaigners joined a public meeting at the Royal Welsh Showground earlier this year to oppose the plans by developers Bute Energy.<\/p>\n<p>Conservative MP Fay Jones attended the public consultation and said she was &#8216;against&#8217; the plans. Pictured is a sign against the plans\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;They&#8217;ve gone in very heavy-handed and are trying to build their own transmission network through the backdoor.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;They claim to have 25 per cent of people signed up although I sincerely doubt it &#8211; but it&#8217;s caused a level of anger in the community.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Bute Energy said insisted the new wind turbines would generate around\u00a0<span>237MW of cleaner, green energy &#8211; which could power about 71,000 homes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The firm said all feedback would be &#8216;carefully considered&#8217; ahead of the next round of public consultation in early 2024.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman added: &#8216;Together, the projects will empower rural communities through investment, jobs and skills, enabling communities across Wales to live modern electric lives, and support the Welsh Government&#8217;s target for electricity to be 100 per cent renewable by 2035.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We know people have differing views on new infrastructure.
