‘World’s deepest bunker’ buried 6,500ft under can hold a MILLION people and launch world-ending armageddon nukes | The Sun

THE world's deepest bunker stretches to 6,500 feet underground and can hold up to a million people.

China's nuclear command bunker is said to be the "deepest in the world" and has been described as a "small city".

Buried up to 2,000 metres down, the Joint Operations Command Centre is the highest level headquarters in China.

It is where President Xi Jinping and his top military decision-making team exercise command of the Chinese military’s combat operations.

The JOCC is headed by Xi, who is also the chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC)

However, the exact location of the JOCC is classified, but SCMP claim it is situated in a reinforced underground complex on the west side Beijing.

The main entrance is located in the Western Hills National Forest Park, not far from China’s top leaders' HQ near the Forbidden City.

Established at some point between 2014-15, the JOCC was designed as part of a series of reforms aimed at making the Chinese military more capable of unified operations.

It is said to have space and supplies for one million people, with enough drinking water for each of those individuals already in preparation.

The JOCC is manned 24 hours a day, naturally, and would provide shelter for the president and his closest associates on the dawn of nuclear war.

But very little footage or photographic evidence of the facility has been broadcasted – and understandably if it wishes to remain a top secret institution.

But in 2017, state broadcaster CCTV aired video that showed some of the centre’s interior and a more complete view of the installation.

It included a two-storey main hall that featured a massive video screen dozens of metres wide that displayed various information and video links.

The room was also furnished with a podium, a wall covered in world maps, and a special throne-like desk for the commander-in-chief.

On either side of the commander-in-chief, there were two rows of seats for other CMC members and top PLA officers.

Behind them were various staff workstations.

The bunker is also prepared to launch world-ending armageddon nukes after undergoing major upgrades in recent years.

And after geological surveys of the cave system were carried out by the Chinese government, it was found that underground water sources would not be affected by a nuclear fallout.

Qin Dajun, associate researcher with the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Geology and Geophysics, claimed people could stay in the cave for “years”.
