Tourist dead after Bahamas boat capsizes in horrific holiday tragedy
A 75-year-old American tourist died after the ferry he was sailing on capsized minuted after departing on an exclusive tour to Blue Lagoon island.
Passengers were forced to abandon ship as the two-deck ferry they had boarded in Nassau, Bahamas started sinking just off the coast.
Local media reported the elderly tourist died during the sinking but the specific cause of death has yet to be disclosed.
Two more passengers were also rushed to the hospital for treatment, according to tour operator The Maritime Executive.
Footage of the incident has since started to emerge on social media, with one passenger sharing a harrowing clip showing passengers clad in life jackets leaning over one side of the ferry.

The video also shows other passengers already wading through the water as the vessel tilts over more and more with every passing second.
Some of the terrified passengers started jumping into the water and swam towards a small boat hovering nearby.
Kelly Schissel, who filmed some of the footage and shared it on TikTok, said: “One of the crewmembers who was downstairs ran upstairs and was crying, absolutely bawling, and grabbing a life jacket. That’s when everybody was like ‘this is real, something’s happening.’
“We were kind of waiting for staff to tell us what to do, which they never did because they were too busy crying and freaking out.”
