Man shoots pregnant wife and stepson dead in murder-suicide after argument

A man fatally shot his pregnant wife and stepson following an argument before turning the gun on himself, according to police.

Officers believe David Priest, 24, carried out the attack at a property in Little Rock, Arkansas, the US.

Paiden Priest, 23, and Grayson Beckham, two, were found dead at the scene with gunshot wounds.

David was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Neighbours told local outlet 40/29 News that they heard what sounded like an argument before gunshots rang out.

Another said one of the bullets had struck his headboard, above he and his wife’s bed.

Van Buren police Sgt Jonathan Wear said: “This is one of the worst cases that we've had to ever deal with.

"But we do believe that this was done by David Priest."

Wear added: "We do know there was some arguing heard by the neighbor prior to the gunshots being heard, so we do know there was some type of argument.”

Earlier this week, a dad jumped off a dam holding his baby daughter in a carrier in what police now believe was an "unspeakable" murder-suicide.

On Wednesday afternoon, April 21, emergency services rushed to the Whispering Wall, part of the Barossa Reservoir in South Australia, where they found the man dead.

An infant was unresponsive and died at the scene despite paramedics' best efforts.

The man has since been identified as Henry Shepherdson, 38, and the baby as his nine-month-old daughter Kobi.

Shocked witnesses say they watched in horror as the man jumped from the 35-metre-high dam wall while Kobi was in a child carrier strapped to his body.

Police said investigators had uncovered a history of domestic violence between Mr Shepherdson and Kobi's mum.

"Detectives from Barossa CIB and Major Crime Investigation Branch, along with forensic crime scene investigators attended the scene to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident," a statement read.

"Witnesses reported seeing a man with an infant in a child carrier jump off the wall.

"Although a formal identification has not yet been completed, police believe the man to be Shepherdson, aged 38, and his daughter Kobi Shepherdson aged nine months."
