Man, 81, fighting for life after being hit by a car in Tesco car park in Salford | The Sun

AN ELDERLY man is fighting for his life after being mowed down by a car in a Salford Tesco car park.

The 81-year-old was raced to hospital at around 2.30pm on Tuesday, after emergency services were called out to the Tesco Extra in Pendleton.

He remains in critical condition, while cops confirmed no arrests have been made.

The driver of the vehicle involved is said to be "assisting officers" as investigations continue.

Greater Manchester Police have not revealed the make or model of car.

Force investigators have urged witnesses to come forward with any information and advised those with dash cam footage to help with their enquiries.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At around 2.30pm on Tuesday 14 November 2023, emergency services were called to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on the car park of Tesco Extra, Pendleton.

"The pedestrian, an 81-year-old man, is in a critical condition in hospital.

"No arrests have been made and the driver of the vehicle is assisting the police with their enquiries.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any CCTV or dashcam footage should contact GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting log 2118-14/11/2023."
