A 34-year-old Colorado Springs man was gored by a bison Monday in Yellowstone National Park.
The incident happened near the Giant Geyser at Old Faithful, park officials said in a news release. The man was walking with family on the boardwalk when a bull charged the group.
The man suffered an arm injury and was taken by ambulance to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The incident is under investigation.
Park officials urge the public to stay more than 25 yards away from bison and other large wildlife including moose, elk, deer and bighorn sheep.
Monday’s goring is the second reported incident in the park this year.
On May 30, a bison gored a 25-year-old Ohio woman, tossing her 10 feet into the air. That incident happened near a boardwalk at Black Sand Basin, just north of Old Faithful. The woman suffered a puncture wound and other injuries.
