A champion bodybuilder crowned Mr Mexico has been shot dead by gunmen just months after surviving a recent assassination attempt.
Luis Manuel Lomeli, 45, was driving his truck in Leon, a city in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, when motorbike-riding hitmen gunned the bodybuilder, known as The Cowboy or El Charro, down on Saturday, October 28.
The gun toting killers had pulled up beside El Charro's truck as he was driving to the gym for a workout before spraying him with bullets, reports The Sun.

The Cowboy tried to escape by reversing his truck, however he crashed into the car behind him instead.
According to local media Lomeli, who was crowned Mr Mexico in 2008, had managed to escape another assassination attempt when his arm was grazed by a hitman's bullet five months ago.
In an Instagram post, bodybuilding news organisation Rx Muscle said tit was " horrified" at Lomeli's death. offered stated thetheir condolences after being left "horrified" at the news.
The post read: "We send our warmest wishes to Luis' family and his many fans in Mexico and around the world.
"Just, awful."
In other news coming from Mexico, drug lord 'El 22' was accidentally shot down by his own foot soldiers after they mistook him for a hitman from a rival gang.
In a shocking case of mistaken identity, Sinaloa Cartel gunmen loyal to Los Chapitos – the sons of infamous drug lord Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán – were thought to have been at a private health clinic in Culiacán, Mexico guarding another man who was receiving treatment.
A gunfight broke out when another armed man showed up. According to El Blog del Narco, that man was the elusive "El 22" – thought to have been the gangster responsible for running the cartel's operations in Guamúchil, Sinaloa.
It is thought that El 22 was visiting the clinic in order to pay for the wounded man's surgery. The gunmen assumed he was a rival hitman coming to finish the injured man off.
"That's the bad thing about not knowing the boss," a source said.
