Labour leader Keir Starmer has clashed with Sky presenter Sophy Ridge over his opposition to the Conservative’s economic strategy for a post-coronavirus recovery. Ms Ridge pressed Sir Keir on his anti-austerity stance and raised whether the strategy was a fair one given Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s pledge to “build back better”. She asked the opposition leader have you been a bit “disingenuous here though?”.
She added: “Cause you say the Government want to go back, they want to build back,
“But you have quite conveniently missed out the better bit didn’t you, build back better.
“Which is very different meaning,”
Sir Keir replied the Government had to recognise the economic model of the past decade was “unjust.”
