The Razzies, Hollywood’s parody award show that honors the worst content created in the last year, has presented Rudy Giuliani with two awards.
Giuliani won the Worst Screen Combo Award for his role in “Borat: Subsequent Movie Film.”
“For scariest screen pairing of any two people, costumes, or things. Our Worst Screen Combo Award,” the voiceover said while announcing Giuliani as the winner of this category.
“The $4.97 trophy goes to Rudy Giuliani and his pants zipper for ‘Borat: Subsequent Movie Film,'” the voiceover continued.
The movie features Giuliani in a hotel bedroom with Tutar — a character played by Maria Bakalova, the daughter of film lead Sacha Baron Cohen. Giuliani is seen in a hotel room with Tutar, a news reporter at this point in the movie who’s meeting Giuliani for an interview.
At one point in the scene, Tutar and Giuliani are drinking scotch when she takes him into a hotel suite bedroom for the interview.
Giuliani can be seen tapping the small of her back with his hand. Another angle shows Tutar trying to remove the microphone wire from Giuliani’s shirt as he’s sitting on the bed. He then lies down on the bed with his hand down his pants.
Bakalova at the time of the scene’s shooting was 23. Her character, however, was just 15.
The scene exploded on social media and the news. Giuliani, after the scene came out, tried to justify what appeared to be inappropriate behavior.
He said he had just been “tucking in my shirt” into his pants in the moment.
“The Borat video is a complete fabrication. I was tucking in my shirt after taking off the recording equipment. At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate,” Giuliani wrote in a tweet. “If Sacha Baron Cohen implies otherwise he is a stone-cold liar.”
Giuliani also won a second Razzie for his involvement in the film.
“For the most rotten second banana who gets billing below the title — and hits below the belt. The Worst Supporting Actor Razzie goes to Rudy Giuliani, again, for playing himself — and apparently with himself — in ‘Borat: Subsequent Movie Film,'” the voiceover said.
MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell also won two Razzies.
Lindell won Worst Actor for his role in his own self-produced film, “Absolute Proof.” He has called the film a “documentary,” despite the fact that it’s laden with disinformation about the 2020 presidential election.
The movie, two hours long, has been banned from YouTube and ran on conservative outlets that have also peddled election-related conspiracy theories such as OAN. The premise behind “Absolute Proof” is that former President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election to now-President Joe Biden because of interference from Chinese cyberattackers.
The movie also won the “Worst Picture” award.
