EFC Continues its Esports Success With Tencent Partnership

What happens when a state-of-the-art technology firm partners with the largest gaming company on the planet?

Esports Fight Club (EFC), and its parent company Verasity, are making history by announcing a partnership based on a joint esports initiative, the PUBG Mobile Pro League Season 4 (SEA) tournament. Verasity, a protocol and product layer platform for esports and video entertainment, has filed several patents for its blockchain-based ad tech solutions in recent years. With its brainchild Esports Fight Club, a gaming platform that offers content, events and tournaments to take community interaction to the next level, this duo has achieved considerable success in the exclusive world of online gaming to date.

The PUBG Mobile Pro League SEA Season 4 carries great significance as the event will send 4 teams from Southeast Asia to participate in the most glamorous event of PUBG Mobile, PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2021. A total of 20 teams will compete for a prize pool of $200,000 from 12th October 2021 to 31st October 2021, with the finals taking place from the 5th of Nov 2021 to the 7th of Nov 2021. The winner of this tournament qualifies for the participation in a PUBG championship competing for $6 million.

Opening esports to outside capital

At this point, few people would be shocked to learn that esports is one of the fastest-growing industries on the planet. Through its many niches and exciting branches, electronic sports generated over $1B in revenue in 2020. 

Esports has traditionally been a semi-closed circuit, where only a few pioneers have managed to innovate due to trust issues, and it becomes clear that, with the inclusion of more participants and technologies, gaming still has a long way to go. EFC, on the other hand, aims to enter the exclusive esports market with a different approach. The company claims to be a prime example of interactive viewership for gaming. In contrast to regular watching experiences, EFC aims to create interactive experiences to improve existing mechanisms of online gaming and its surrounding industry.

Verified viewership in Esports

Verasity’s EFC pioneers a unique application of their patented Proof-of-View (PoV) technology. The platform aims to be a network where viewers enjoy the most prominent and exclusive esports events and receive rewards for engaging within them. Similar platforms had tried to pioneer this concept before, but reward systems are severely limited by attempts to game the systems through fake accounts and bots. Some reports even suggest that, at its worst, over 40% of the accounts watching a given tournament can be fake. EFC, however, is prepared to assure sponsors and organizers alike that, thanks to PoV, all users engaging will be, in fact, human.

PoV is beneficial to both content creators (who can receive accurate ad revenue), publishers (who can boast a better UX for content creators and advertisers) and advertisers (who will not spend on fake ad views). Fake ad views, and therefore, phoney attendance in tournaments, is regarded as an industry-wide problem affecting the growth of esports as a whole.

Within esports, EFC will distribute out-of-game NFTs so that fans can take the game’s experience outside of the tournament itself as collectables and memorabilia. PoV includes a smart contract feature that utilizes transparent verification and provides a necessary assurance for the market, enabling a solid foundation of value. EFC points are awarded to users that take advantage of these features, creating interesting incentive dynamics.

To verify that a viewer is a unique user watching the content, the viewer needs to interact with Verasity’s technology in a non-repeatable manner. PoV combines product layers, the EFC platform and proprietary video player, as well as Verasity’s Adstack. This creates a system in which the user interacts with content, advertisers, and the Verasity system.

EFC’s growth within the esports industry

Esports Fight Club has previous experience in the esports industry, as it hosted the Ultimate Warrior Showdown series to promote PUBG Mobile in South East Asia. The UWS is one of the largest private tournaments for PUBG Mobile in the SEA region. Thanks to the UWS, Verasity has been able to leverage the Esports Fight Club and its rewards system to develop budding gaming communities across SEA. EFC is the only tournament platform to continuously engage users across PUBG Mobile in the whole of Asia.

Ultimate Warrior Showdown limits itself to mobile games and to the SEA region. In 2020, it offered a prize pool of 15,000 USD. With its continued focus on the Asia Pacific market, EFC aims to capture the world’s fastest growing esports market, which is expected to rise to over 325 million viewers by 2023.
