South Korea’s Largest Opposition Party To Use Blockchain Voting System In Youth Committee Election

Taiwan-based tech startup ioeX will be helping the Liberty Korea Party, South Korea’s largest opposition party, to a implement a blockchain voting system using its technology solution.

ioeX utilizes peer to peer (P2P) connections between many devices to create a decentralized network formed by distributed smart terminals. The startup began as a project to reduce operating risk and cost for smart device suppliers by creating a comprehensive ecosystem through a healthy and stable distributed network combined with the ioeX duo-chain system. The company’s vision is “transferring commercial value based on global data security” by implementing practical use scenarios that integrate blockchain technology with Internet of Things (IoT).

In a press conference, the Liberty Korea Party said that it will be using ioeX’s customized platform solution to conduct party elections with all records preserved in the blockchain. The solution will include a petition function to facilitate the gathering of public opinion while also providing up-to-date records of representative activity for the general public. The voting system will be officially used during the party’s youth committee election next month.

The Liberty Korea Party’s Floor Leader Na Kyung Won emphasized that the characteristics of blockchain such as traceability and being tamper-proof can help facilitate party elections with increased success.

Aryan Hung, Founder and CEO of ioeX, said that the voting system is the first step in their continued expansion of the ioeX distributed network and duo-chain system.

“Events such as candidate speeches and policy announcement are perfectly suitable for temporary storage in the distributed network so that through content searching, users can find images and video that cannot be recorded on the blockchain and better understand the candidates’ past feats,” said Hung. “Additionally, users can use encrypted communication (X-Talk) for peer-to-peer media transfers and further ensure data security.”
